Seamless Worldwide Radar Coverage
BRS now offers a Worldwide Database (WWDB) for our entire radar simulator product line. The WWDB
provides a seamless terrain database for the entire planet, with sufficient resolution to realistically simulate most ground mapping
radar imagery. The WWDB provides limitless gaming area, ideally suited for navigation training, mission planning applications, and
maritime or ASW simulations. The WWDB has been validated through formal testing and on-going use by USAF and USN customers since 2004.

Database Generation System
Correlation with visual systems
For applications where detailed content cultural correlation is critical, areas of particular interest can be imported
from visual database formats. In this case, the WWDB provides continuity between such specific areas. Likewise, high-resolution patches
can be incorporated for special applications such as Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), that require extremely high-resolution data. BRS’
unique mapping algorithms enable real time data map projections to match virtually any visual system projection format, including:
-
- WGS84
- UTM
- Lambert
- Flat Earth
- Mercator
Database Generation System (DBGS)
The DBGS is a BRS software product that provides a user-friendly means of managing
and editing the radar database. It can import data from a wide variety of formats, and convert it to the BRS radar data
format. Some of the available import formats include:
-
- DTED/DFAD
- SRTM
- OpenFlight
- BIL
- Shapefile
- NPSI
Convenient removable media
The WWDB resides on a dedicated removable high-capacity disk drive . This
media serves as an easy means of updating the database on each Radar Simulation System (RSS). This disk drive can
be swapped out with an updated pack in a matter of seconds. Alternatively, it can be transferred
to a Database Generation System (DBGS) for editing or updating. Likewise, updates can be accomplished via
network, CD, DVD, or memory stick.
WWDB Update Service
BRS offers an annual service to provide continuous updates and improvements to the WWDB.
BRS is continually improving the quality and detail of the WWDB as improved data sources become available. This inexpensive
update service has the following benefits:
-
- Updates for cumulative WWDB improvements
- Periodic as-needed updates for urgent needs
- User input mechanism for future releases
WWDB source data
The WWDB was built with a combination of sources, including SRTM, DTED Level 0,1 &2,
DFAD Level 1, VMAP Level 0 &1 data. The highest quality data available is used for each data point. In addition, the WWDB
includes a cumulative history of enhancements made by BRS to correct anomalies, remove SRTM elevation deficiencies and add detail.
