Developed two RDR-1300 radar simulators for incorporation into US Coast Guard HH-60 and HH-65 flight simulators. These units provide geospecific gaming areas including customized features for bouys and numerous airfields. Both units output RS-170 radar video to cockpit displays. |
|
MD80 Airline Crash Movie Special Effects.
Produced simulated weather radar imagery for the Cineflix movie, "Mayday
Air Disaster - Racing the Storm". This documentary re-enacts the crash
of American Airlines Flight 1420 in Little Rock, AK in 1999. This crash
was due to severe weather; therefore, the radar played a major role in
the re-enactment. The weather radar imagery was recreated using the BRS
Weather Radar Simulation System, based on FAA weather data and
descriptions from the pilot voice recording.

|
RC-135W Radar Simulation System (RSS).
Developed a high-performance
Digital Radar Landmass Simulation (DRLMS) of the AN/APN-242 radar for
the USAF RC-135W Operational Flight Trainer (OFT). This system provides
a 360-degree PPI or sector scan radar image, with features including
terrain mapping, weather detection, and beacon and skin paint target
detection. The video output drives multiple aircraft displays via
875-line RS-343 video, as well as a simulated radar indicator. It
provides a seamless Worldwide Database. |
CUSTOM EMBEDDED SYSTEMS PROGRAMS:
| B-1B Cockpit Procedures Trainer (CPT) Graphics System. Produced PC-based graphics system software to replace a legacy graphics system for driving all cockpit and instructor station displays. This system emulates legacy Matrox-based graphics systems with standard COTS PCs and graphics cards, such that no changes were required to the host simulation computer. |
| C-17 Mission Computer Display Emulator. Developed an Embedded Graphic System (EGS) that was incorporated into simulated aircraft displays to emulate the ARINC-429 interface of the actual aircraft equipment and produce graphics displays in real-time based on commands from a simulation host computer. The EGS software executes on a PC/104 CPU with expansion interface card. |
| CH-46E Weapon System Trainer (WST) Communication Navigation Control System (CNCS). Developed software for a stand-alone VME-based interface system to integrate aircraft CNCS equipment with an existing CH-46E WST. This embedded PC software communicates with a Night Hawk host computer via reflective memory, and controls I/O devices to provide the following interfaces: MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 407, ARINC 429, Discrete I/O and RS-422. |
| Flo-Dar Embedded Flow
Monitor Device. Developed all software for the Marsh-McBirney
Flo-Dar monitor. This software runs on an embedded PC104 form factor 386
processor, and provides real-time control over a remote sensor for
monitoring flow, velocity and level of liquids in a pipe. It also
provides a user-interface for setting parameters and displaying data
using an LCD touchscreen. |
HOST COMPUTER PROGRAMS:
| F/A-18 Weapons Tactics Trainer (WTT) Host Computer. Provided five real-time, auxiliary host computer platforms and software development environment using the Linux operating system with real-time kernel extensions. Incorporated the PC-based system as an additional host computer system to the two existing Encore 91 series host computers on each WTT. Integrated PC with the Encore hosts via reflective memory, thereby providing seamless parallel processing. Developed software tools to facilitate the migration of existing WTT code to the PC host, including support for Encore Datapool and Fortran-77. |
Southern California Edison Power Plant Simulator. Provided a real-time host computer platform and software development environment using the Linux operating system with real-time kernel extensions. |
Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAAV) Simulator. Provided an RT-Linux based, real-time host computer platform and software development environment for use on the AAAV simulator program. |
MAN/MACHINE INTERFACES:
|
B-1 Weapon Systems Trainer (WST) Instructor Operator Station (IOS). Provided third-party support for a major upgrade to the B-1 WST to incorporate FalconView map presentation software to the IOS. |
|
|
